Children’s Formation

Serving Our Neighbors

A cornerstone of our time with our youngest members is to teach and learn about serving others. We gift the altar flowers to friends who cannot be in worship, we make tray liners for our friends at Eagle Crest or centerpieces for Presbyterian Manor. We talk about, learn about and pray for the people in the margins of our city. And we learn that no matter how old you are, you can make someone feel the presence of our loving God.

Family Outings

We go to the Zoo, we visit museums, we place rocks with messages of love in the parks. We visit the bell tower and the food bank. What would you like to do? What would you like for our family to see? We can make it work.

Our youngest friends can be acolytes, help in choir, carry candles or crosses, or help with ushering and welcoming or cleaning up. But always, at every service, our youngest friends send us forth into the world or do as Christ asks us - a reminder that the faith of the children is ideal in the eyes of the Lord.

“Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.”

Sunday School

Our Sunday School is fluid, so we can meet the needs of complicated calendars, seasons and subjects. Sometimes we gather in our wonderful classroom right after worship. Sometimes Mo. Shay meets with us in the Sanctuary to talk about what happens there. Sometimes we look at the windows, read a story, make a craft … but always we are seeking to find ways to engage our youngest members with the God who made them perfect and loves them completely.
